To The Moon and Back

To The Moon and Back

I was on a mission to buy two large rolls of lilac mesh ribbon. The aisles with the Christmas ‘stuff’ were congested, a combination of narrow aisles, shopping carts and people. Eventually I found the mesh aisle, maneuvering my way through the chaos I stood in disbelief as I viewed shelf upon shelf containing red mesh. What’s up with that? No other color, not even the traditional green and gold, and definitely no lilac.

Disappointed, I wandered around the rest of the craft store. I stopped for quite sometime reading the many wall plaques they have on display.

One in particular stood out, it was love at first sight. To start with, it had polka dots painted in the background. That in itself was enough to get my attention. The words read “Love You to the Moon and Back.” Such a beautiful sentiment.

I stood there reading the plaque over and over and as I did, I thought about Jesus. How He left heaven to be born as a baby. How He willingly died on a cross to pay the price for my sin. How He conquered death and hell and now sits at His Father’s right hand.

He did all that for me.

For you.

Love reaching further than to the moon and back. Love reaching out to mankind, love waiting for us to say Yes in response to His love.

1 John 4:9-10 (NIV) “This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”

Respond with a Yes to Christ this Christmas. Let his love invade your life. I’m saying Yes. How about you?

Oh, and just in case you are wondering, I did find more colored mesh. Alas, it was not the lilac I wanted, but purple.

Merry Christmas from my family to yours.
